Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Diamond Edition? (Review)
When I was a little girl, we lived in Orange County, California - very close to Disneyland. I went for the first time when I was too little to remember and continued to go and build enough memories there to last a lifetime. I remember E ticket rides, riding the mules in Frontierland, and the Country Bear Jamboree. I knew every ride, every movie and every parade inside and out and if you had asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I wanted to work at Disneyland. I also thought Walt had a lot of nerve to go and die just when I was being born!
One of the scariest rides of all, in my opinion (then and now) was Snow White’s Scary Adventures. That mean ol’ witch and the evil hag would jump out at you without any notice….yikes! This led to Snow White not being my favorite Disney movie.
Then I grew up.
My favorites became the Villains and almost no one is a better Disney Villain than the Wicked Queen. My love-affair with the story of Snow White was back on. In fact, we have a rather large sketch of her in our room.:)
During my 20’3s and 30′s I was able to work for Disney in the Disney Stores and in France when they opened Disneyland Paris. Believe me I have many stories to tell but for tonight, let me just say, that for the longest times, the line we were to give guests who inquired about when Snow White would be released on VHS, was that it was in the Disney vault and there were no plans to release it in that format. (Never Say Never!) So in 1994, Snow White was released for home entertainment for the first time then later on DVD for the first time in 2001.
On Tuesday, October 6th, the Diamond Edition of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs came out in a Blu-ray and DVD combo pack (the standard definition DVD will be available November 24th). There is no better way for your family to re-experience this timeless tale written by The Brothers Grimm.
Now, in case, for some reason, you are not familiar with the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Where have you been??) it is the basic story of the Evil Step Monster seeking eternal beauty and fame, feels jealously of her step daughter Snow White and makes every effort to do away with her. Snow White is warned of this by a loyal servant and then runs through the forest to hide.
She meets up with 7 adorable little dwarfs and they all look after one another. However, due to the the Wicked Queen’s Magic Mirror ratting Snow White out, the queen convinces Snow White to take one bite of a poisoned apple, causing Snow White to fall into a deep and abiding sleep, only to woken by true love’s kiss. The story has a happy ending as she is rescued by her handsome prince and they quite literally ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after.
Now you may have noticed that it is being released as *~Diamond Edition~*.
This *~Diamond Edition~* includes some amazing features including:

This revolutionary new Diamond Edition provides the highest-level viewing experience, unprecedented value, quality, and versatility with the exceptional picture and sound of Blu-ray and the extended utility of DVD.
As an aside, if you are like me, you have really wondered if upgrading to Blu-ray is really worth it. Well, Blu-ray offers you technology on more scratch resistant and kid-proof and Blu-ray players play both Blu-ray discs and your favorite DVDs. If you haven’t watched a movie in high-definition Blu-Ray before, you’re in for a treat. You’ll be amazed at the crisp quality of the animation and rich sound. It’s like you’re seeing the movie for the 1st time. The only downside is that it’s hard to go back to regular DVDs once you’ve experienced Blu-Ray.
For those of you who already own this title but would like to upgrade to the Diamond Edition, Disney is offering you a $10 off coupon to make the switch.
