While the movie industry is busy remaking movies from my childhood or making books from my childhood into movies, the theatre is equally busy rewriting the music of my youth.  Enter the musical ROCK OF AGES.

Set in 1987 in a legendary Sunset Strip rock club, a small-town girl meets a big-city dreamer and they fall in love to the greatest metal songs of the 80’s. The musical is an arena-rock love story told through the mind-blowing, face-melting hits of Journey, Bon Jovi, Styx, Reo Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Foreigner, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia, Whitesnake and more.

Now, while I have always been a country girl, many of my friends listened to the music now found in Rock of Ages so when One2One sent me a copy of the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Rock of Ages, a lot of what I heard was quite familiar.  There was another twist too…. this Five Time Tony Award nominated musical stars Constantine Maroulis of American Idol fame.

While I won’t be listening to this on a daily basis, my favorites on the cd include We’re Not Gonna Take It,  Harden My Heart / Shadows Of The Night, Hit Me With Your Best Shot, and Can’t Fight This Feeling.  How about you….any favorites??
