Protect-A-Bed BlogHer ‘09 $300 Scholarship Contest (CLOSED)

15 April 2009

So, Just Who is Protect-A-Bed?

Protect-A-Bed is a company that makes innovative mattress and pillow covers with the primary goal of helping to provide  healthy and comfortable sleep your family. Their pillows covers and mattress protectors and encasements  help prolong the life of your bed and provide a barrier from dust mites (a major cause of allergies and Eczema and trigger for Asthma) and oh-so-unpleasant bed bugs.  They also protect mattresses and pillows from accidents and leakage at night and their products can be washed and dried at home, over and over again.  Protect-A-Bed products are so well made that they have been tested to be flame-resistant to a greater extent than the law requires and are even guaranteed against leaks or tears.

Protect-A-Bed covers are THE alternative to traditional mattress pads and do something that no other mattress pad can – provide allergy relief, bug protection and a waterproof barrier which all add up to a better nights sleep.

Protect-A-Bed

What is our experience with Protect-A-Bed?
If you recall, Kim and I both posted about Protect-A-Bed products back in January.   I talked about their super absorbent Miracle Membrane and their ability to withstand wetness in my post, A Good Night’s Sleep and a Happy Morning – Mattress Protection.  Kim reviewed a Protect-A-Bed mattress cover for both of her kids, and a pillow protector for Jake in her Protect-A-Bed Mattress & Pillow Cover Review.

What is Protect-A-Bed’s relationship with bloggers?

Protect-A-Bed has begun partnering with mom bloggers as a way to help spread the word about how their products promote healthy sleep for our families. In conjunction with their support of mom bloggers, Protect-A-Bed is helping Kim from What’s That Smell? and I with some of our expenses to attend a major event in the mom blogging community – Blogher ‘09.

When recently asked why they partner with bloggers and why they feel Blogher is an important event for them to participate in, Protect-A-Bed
responded:

During the past year we at Protect-A-Bed have worked with some amazing bloggers and developed a lot of great relationships along the way, all in our quest to share the importance of mattress protection for families. When we learned the BlogHer conference was in our home town of Chicago, we wanted to do something to show how important we think the women’s blogging community is. What better way to show our support than helping deserving bloggers travel to a conference where they can continue to develop their talents!

Blogher conference

Why is the Blogher conference important to me?
While I have been blogging for over 3 years, it has only been during this past year that I began to focus on blogging as a business as well as a fun pass-time.  Since then, I have been constantly learning, trying out new techniques and building a rapport with both great bloggers like Kim and far-sighted companies like Protect-A-Bed.  A couple of months ago I had the chance to attend another blogging conference as a Christmas gift from my mom and I was overwhelmed at the sheer volume of information I had access to via that conference.  When I returned from that, I knew I had to make every effort to attend BlogHer ‘09.  Now I am almost equally excited over the prospect of more invaluable information and the chance to meet some of my very best bloggy friends and mentors ‘In Real Life‘.  Who knows, when I return, I may be so inspired that I take 3Ps in a Pod in a whole new direction or I may just have a zillion ideas on how to improve on what I have.  At any rate, I am thrilled that thanks in part to Protect-A-Bed, I get to go!

But guess what….I’ve got more good news.

Protect-A-Bed wants to help one of YOU with some of your Blogher ‘09 expenses by offering a $300 scholarship to help you pay for your hotel room, airfare, parking, whatever you need it for!

Isn’t that fantasically, terrifically awesome?!?! I am sooooo excited that they asked us at What’s That Smell? and 3 P’s in a Pod to host this contest.

Finalist Selection:
10 finalists will be chosen from all eligible entries. A representative from Protect-A-Bed, Kim from What’s That Smell? and myself will together narrow all of the entries down to 10 finalists. Entries will be judged on their creativity combined with the entrants ability to communicate their response to the entry question. Finalists will be announced on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at noon CST and voting will commence.

Winner Selection:
On Thursday, May 7, 2009 at noon CST, the 10 finalists will be announced and the blogging community will then be able to vote on their favorite.  The finalists may use any resources at their disposal to solicit votes but we have the following restriction: you may not run a giveaway with the main entry being to vote for you in this contest.  You may use voting as an extra entry in a giveaway(s) but not as the main entry requirement.  Votes can be cast until Thursday, May 14, 2009 at noon CST.
