Neosporin for ‘Salve and a Bandaid’
Accidents happen. That is one of my favorite phrases…just ask my kids. And when you are little, they happen a lot. Take my oldest daughter, for example. She recently took a tumble while riding her scooter. After I gave her some love and dried her tears, we inspected the damage. The Diagnosis? Time for Salve and a Bandaid! (another of my common phrases:).
Out comes the Neosporin. I remember my mom using it on my cuts and scrapes as a kid. In fact, she still does. Neosporin is a staple for our family. We use it on any type of cut, scrape or ‘booboo‘. As a triple antibiotic, it was designed to “kill off common skin bacteria, speed the healing process, and minimize the appearance of scars.” So get a ‘booboo‘ and apply a little Neosporin and a Bandaid and you will be right as rain in no time! Seriously…if you haven’t you really have to try it.
There are several different varieties of Neosporin products available for cuts and scrapes. There is the conventional Neosporin + First Aid Antibiotic Ointment, Neosporin Pain Relief Ointment & Cream, and Neosporin Neo To Go . Personally, I prefer the Neosporin Pain Relief Ointment as it not only contains the triple antibiotic but a little pain reliever as well. I prefer the ointment over the cream as I feel it stays in place and seems a bit more water resistant. Mom Central recently sent me a care package from Neosporin that contained some of all 3 varieties. Neo To Go was new to me and we made sure to test it out. Neo To Go comes in either a spray that offers no touch, no sting application or individual application packages – both perfect for any Mom’s crazy, on-the-go lifestyle. We received it in the spray form and while it contained the same great product, I am not sure that the delivery was great. Application was easy and definitely not as messy as the ointment but the pump action did not seem to produce a consistent amount. Of course, it could also have just been this particular unit.
As for the ointment, a little goes a very long way, making the tubes seem to last forever. I often have to check the expiration date on the crimped end of the tube and discard it before we empty the tube. Topical antibiotics like Neosporin lose their effectiveness once expired and I want to make sure that my family always get the best.
Stop by the Neosporin website and check out their great First aid section, educational information, and special offers.
Neosporin products are available at retailers nationwide and run between $4-$10.
Many, many thanks to Mom Central for this review opportunity.

It just makes me smile, some things truly never change because they shouldn’t.
Neosporin is a must have in my medicine cabinet.
Love Neosporin! That stuff works miracles!
