My Baby First Steps for Nintendo DS

24 November 2009

You may recall that for her birthday in September, P1 asked for and received a Nintendo DS.  Being the wise parents that we are, we were not sure that she would enjoy it and use it as much as she thought she would.  Thankfully, we have been proven wrong and she has shown very good judgment in taking care of it as well.  With Christmas only a month away, so have come the girls’ Christmas Lists and it is no surprise that P1 has requested a game or two for her DS.

Well, as we found out in September when we were shopping, there really aren’t a whole lot of video games out there that appeal specifically to girls.  Add to that that we are careful in making sure that they encourage the kinds of thoughts and behavior we feel are appropriate at this age and, well, it can be tough.

Well Southpeak Games has recently released the next game in the “My Baby” series for the Nintendo DS called My Baby First Steps and has been very quickly added to P1’s Christmas List. ;)   Available for Wii as well, young girls get to play with and care for dolls virtually. In this version, My Baby First Steps you taking care of a baby from 1 year to 3 years old with all the “fun” of taking care of a real baby , both good and bad (visualize the teenage girls in your high school with the fresh egg they had to treat as their baby….only way more cool and fun!)mybabyfirststeps My Baby First Steps for Nintendo DS

Your baby has grown so fast! Can you believe that a year has already gone by? Take care of your baby from their 1st birthday until they’re 3 years old. Your baby will discover its entire environment and learn from it, they’ll walk, babble and speak, try to catch every object they can, and put everything in their mouth… Your baby will be the apple of your eye!

Features:

* Your baby looks more lifelike than ever with brand new 3D animations and reactions
* Make sure that your baby has the latest trends with even more items; customize your furniture, clothes, and hair just to name a few…
* With a new and improved AI your baby will react as if they were in the room with you
* Innovative gameplay that is based on stylus, touch pad, voice recognition, and the microphone – not a compilation of mini-games
* Interact with your baby whenever you want and experience real baby-like reactions
* Watch your baby grow from both a physical and psychological point of view

My Baby First Steps is a 1 player game for Nintendo DS and Wii and is rated E for everyone. And while the target audience is girls, there are probably plenty of boys who would enjoy playing it to. If you have a young girl (or boy) on your Christmas list this year and they enjoy video games and playing with dolls, My Baby First Steps is a great choice.

I wrote this review on behalf of South Peak Games and received a copy of the game for review.  I received no other compensation and all opinions expressed here are my own.
