In honor of Mother’s Day, Kim from What’s That Smell? and I have put together a gift guide to help you find that perfect gift for the mom on your list, and maybe even provide YOU with some ideas for things that you would like to receive as a gift for Mother’s Day this year so you can drop some hints for your family.
We have 4 different categories of gifts and with such a wide variety of great gift ideas, you are sure to find something that she will love. We know that we already have!

Our fourth, and final category of ‘What Mom Wants’ is “to be entertained” and all moms deserve a break where they can relax and forget about their cares for awhile.
| When it comes to video games, EA Games has been providing fun and popular games for many years. I have found all of their games to really be first rate. One of the things they do especially well is having a wide variety that appeals to everyone, especially mom!
I have always loved games but as a kid, I could rarely find anyone to play with. Between marrying my hubby who also loves games and the current slew of gaming genres available, I can play pretty much to my heart’s content. Here are some of our favorites: Scrabble from EA Games for Nintendo DS (also available for PSP) takes the classic board game to the next level. I like the fact that I can play by myself or compete against others (my six year old gives me a run for my money). Become the great SCRABBLE™ player you’ve always wanted to be! When it comes to giving mom a gift that entertains, nothing beats a great book. It’s wonderful to be able to get lost in a great story, and one of my favorite things about a book is that I can take it just about anywhere and enjoy it.
Harper Collins Publishers has a ton of great fiction titles with stories that are perfect distractions for mom from her cares and woes. 31 Bond Street by Ellen Horan is based on a true murder mystery and is set in 19th century New York City. Who killed Dr. Harvey Burdell? Though there are no witnesses and no clues, fingers point to Emma Cunningham, the refined, pale-skinned widow who managed Burdell’s house and his servants. Rumored to be a black-hearted gold digger with designs on the doctor’s name and fortune, Emma is immediately put under house arrest during a murder investigation. A swift conviction is sure to catapult flamboyant district attorney Abraham Oakey Hall into the mayor’s seat. But one formidable obstacle stands in his way: the defense attorney Henry Clinton. | Another book genre that is a wonderful distraction for mom are romance novels. Yes, I freely admit to reading an occasional historical romance novel or two, and the descriptions of two of the titles from Hatchette Book Group are enough to have me frothing at the bit to make time to read them both.

As far as entertainment goes, music is high on my list, and probably high on most mom’s lists. Music is something that is universal and listening to some of her favorite music helps make some of the chores of everyday life a little easier to get through.
Sony Music has a new project that will not only entertain mom, it will touch her heart and soul. 4Troops is a group of military vets who sing about freedom and to honor those who serve our country in the military. The 4TROOPS are 4 US combat veterans who fought on the front lines in Iraq and Afghanistan. They all shared a passion for music and are now sharing their talent with the world while creating awareness for veterans, soldiers and their needs.
Featuring tracks such as “Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue,” “You Raise Me Up,” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” the new self-titled album consists of well-known positive pop and country hits, along with some new songs. Sony Music will donate 50 cents from each sale of the 4TROOPS album in the United States to organizations that support veterans and their families.

Trivial Pursuit for Wii for the whole family to play.
