Migraines, Abscesses, Bleeding Ulcers, and Anaphylaxys – Oh My!

4 July 2010

Ahhh…so many things…so little time.  Let’s begin with what Kim was kind enough to mention for me.

MIGRAINES

hospital Migraines, Abscesses, Bleeding Ulcers, and Anaphylaxys Oh My!Yes, I have been dealing with the lovely little things again/still (insert huge eye roll and dripping sarcasm after the word little).  Causes?  Well, no one really knows.  Triggers for mine?  Changes in Barometric pressure (gee, that is easy for me to control – NOT), inordinate fatigue (well, something I do have some control over…but as the Mom of 3 young children, well…:), and my personal favorite…..STRESS. Yeah, um, well…WORK IN PROGRESS… nuff said.:)  Of course, someone told me I just have headaches so really should not need any help.  Wanna trade woman???  Humph.

ABSCESSES

The next exciting thing thing that has been happening is that for over 2 months, Bijou, my beloved cat, has had a huge, nasty leg abscess and such a high fever she hovered near death.  After 4 expensive vet visits, multiple daily wound cleanings, and having her sequestered in the Girl’s bathroom, leaving all 5 of us sharing ours, she has finally seemingly recovered with high colors with one exception….. now she won’t use the litter box.  Great.  Just what I needed.

I think I got out of the hospital on a Sunday or Monday.  On Thursday of that same week, my Mom was admitted late that night for internal bleeding.  She stayed until Sunday but the entire stay was a comedy of errors from the beginning.  I won’t bore you with the details but long story short, my Mom  has a history of bleeding ulcers and apparently had some unbeknown st to her in the quasi-recent past.  Her personal MD was not there so she saw several different doctors who were of very little use as they did not communicate with each other.  And to top it all off, my Mom and I have a policy, especially these days, to never leave anyone you love alone in the hospital for long periods of time like overnight so she was tired from having just been there with me and I with her. CUTE3 Migraines, Abscesses, Bleeding Ulcers, and Anaphylaxys Oh My! Thankfully she was able to see her family MD soon after returning home and her opinion was that things were reasonably well.

ANAPHYLAXIS

After all of the fun we had over April/May/June we knew my girls needed a break so a couple of Fridays ago,we took them to have Snow Cones at the local Snowie booth.  Usually, the worst thing you need to worry about is dumping your Snowie, staining, your clothes or watching out for the Paper Wasps who hang out around the trash can  at the Snowie booth.  Not this time.

Again, long story short, P3 was bitten by a Fire Ant (we only discovered that is what bit her later on) between her toes one time…..within 5 minutes I knew my baby was having an anaphylactic reaction.Thankfully I had one of the premeasured Benedryl spoons with me so I gave her that, took her shoe off and we raced around the corner to the local Doc in the Box because they were faster and closer than anything else. By the to time we were there, she was into the full blown reaction…hives and welts from one end to the other, labored breathing, wheezing, itching, coughing, you name it, she was doing it.  I had to do the paperwork so Mom went back with her to get the treatments started.  P2 was internalizing it all as usual and acting like she was bored and P1 was freaking out like she was the patient.    I tell ya, you should have been there.  icon smile Migraines, Abscesses, Bleeding Ulcers, and Anaphylaxys Oh My!   Now we get to go see my good friend Dr. Gerald C. Moore and figure out our best approach beyond the EpiPen I now will always carry and such.

At least I can never say my life is dull, right? icon wink Migraines, Abscesses, Bleeding Ulcers, and Anaphylaxys Oh My!   So if I owe you and email,a package, or something else, please hang in there with me.  Feel free to email me to remind me…I won’t be offended, promise…and write and let me know what you have been up to!

Lots of posts to come here, great information and quite a few giveaways so stay tuned!!

Missed you! If migranes weren’t enough, seriously!!! Extreme allergy to fire ants in texas is a nasty problem. I can’t visit that beloved state without getting a fire ant bite, even in the dead of winter. P3 has my prayers!!! As does her mommy!

Oh! I feel your pain with the migraines, mine are brought on by barometric changes too. I have extreme fatigue associated, I believe, with the migraine…I have slept away many Mountain vacations, if there was a storm anywhere nearby :)
So sorry for your baby, THAT is scary!

Throughout the awesome design of things you’ll get an A+ for effort and hard work. Where you lost me was in all the specifics. As people say, the devil is in the details… And that could not be more true here. Having said that, let me inform you exactly what did deliver the results. Your authoring can be pretty engaging and this is possibly the reason why I am making the effort in order to comment. I do not make it a regular habit of doing that. Next, although I can see the jumps in reasoning you come up with, I am not really confident of just how you seem to unite your points which inturn produce your final result. For now I shall subscribe to your point however hope in the foreseeable future you actually link the dots better.
