Kellogg’s Added Fiber Cereals – They Are the Good Stuff
Fiber. Fiber, fiber, fiber. Fiber is something we all need for a healthy diet but most of us just do not eat enough of it. It helps us digest our foods better as well as get the nutrients our bodies need for stamina and energy. The current recommendation is 20 to 35 grams of fiber per day yet most of us get about half of that. Fruits, vegetables, grains and beans are where we can find the fiber needed in our daily diet.
As a mom, I am constantly trying to get my kids to to eat as healthy as possible. I want them to start out on the right path so they have a good shot a long and healthy life. Of course, when one of them only like one kind of fruit and one kind of vegetable, it can be a little tricky. This same child loves sugar and when she has cereal for breakfast, she thinks sugar HAS to be added. To counter this, I have decided that if I buy some cereals that are pre-sweetened and have other health benefits, it is actually easier to help her control her sugar intake. Hey, a mom has to get her licks in where she can, right?
Kellogg’s has just added two more options to my list of ‘Mom Okayed’ cereals. They have added 3 grams of whole grain per serving to two popular kids cereals: Apple Jacks and Fruit Loops. We were sent some samples of both Apple Jacks and Fruit Loops with the fiber added to try out. Now my girls can read so this was no secret. Let me tell you though, I did not hear one complaint. Instead I heard, “Mom, these are great. Can we get some more?” and “Mom, I really like this cereal.” I, of course, just sat there and smiled, looking like the cat who ate the canary, knowing that I had managed to get just that much more of the good stuff into my kids.
I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Kellogg’s and received boxes of Froot Loops and Apple Jacks and a gift certificate to thank me for taking the time to participate.

I am so glad that they have decided to add fiber. These days it is hard to get kids to eat healthy and every little bit counts. If they would reduce the sugar, that would be fantastic.
Be a sweetheart and leave us a comment, 'nkay?
