It’s Raining, It’s Pouring…

23 April 2009

467747 gorilla Its Raining, Its Pouring...Some of you have been wondering where I have been…very few posts and pretty quiet.  I apologize for that.

Currently my Migraines are raging out of control – one a couple of times a week that lasts for 48-72 hours and my depression is some days getting the better of me.  The Migraines aggravate the depression and the depression aggravates the Migraines.  Fun cycle, eh?  My Mom has been gone and between that and not getting a lot of help outside of my family, it kinda feels like it is not only raining, it is pouring.

So, I am still around.  I have an appointment with a new Neurologist for a 2nd opinion and and appointment to see a new Psychiatrist to see if we can make some medication adjustments.  I will keep you posted.

In the mean while, hang with me.  My first blog priority is meeting the obligations I have to readers who have won and sponsors I have agreed to work with and I will meet those as quickly as I possibly can.  Thank you for your concern and your patience.

At least that gorilla took the time to think.
Seriously recently I saw one solitary ape sitting. It looked as if he were pondering the world’s problem. I took a shot of him. He was captivatinng.

Hey, I know just how you feel. I have migraines and suffer from depression also. I am on a preventative medication for the migraines that has helped a lot, but I do have breakthrough headaches when I get really stressed. I’m stressed a lot lately – I have two teenaged sons! I Love them so much, but boy they can be stressful! I take topamax daily for prevention and lexapro for the depression.

My son sees a neurologist for migraines and a history of seizures and I was telling her that I felt he may be a bit depressed and she said she was just reading research about how depression, anxiety and migraines occur together more often than not, which would make sense since all of them are thought to be caused by problems with the serotonin levels in the brain. I had to go to the doctor after suffering with one from Saturday to Monday and get a shot for one about two weeks ago. I haven’t gotten a shot for a headache in about 15 years – I usually try to just tough them out.

I’ll be praying that your doctor finds something that will work for you. It’s so difficult to take care of yourself – besides trying to care for your kids with so much pain.

I hope your have a great mother’s day! Take Care – Sharon

Alyson, my mom suffered from migraines for many years… and I remember all too well how utterly painful they were for her. Then when she turned 50 they stopped. She is 64 now and hasn’t had even one migraine in 14 years. I hope they end for you soon. I will remember you in my prayers.

Thanks so much Sharon for letting me know I am not alone. The whole thing really stinks. I have tried the Topamax but I cannot tolerate a therapuetic dose…I am asleep all of the time! I have not tried Lexapro yet…my new shrink may suggest that when I go see him Friday. Indeed, do keep me in your prayers!
