Gung Hay Fat Choy!

14 February 2010

Well, Happy Chinese New Year!!

 Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Remember Chinese New Year is the celebration of a new lunar year. It is a fifteen day holiday that starts on the evening of the second new moon after the winter solstice. This is sometime in January or February each year. This holiday ends with the Lantern Festival on the 15th day.

In China, this holiday is also called Spring Festival since it marks the change in the weather from bitter cold to the coming of warmer weather.  Kinda the Chinese version of Punxatawny Phil.

We did not get to go anywhere fun to celebrate CNY due to sick kiddos and Brett, well, he is having some surgery tomorrow.  Keep us in your prayers.

For fun though, I thought I would have a bit of a Chinese New Year Gift Guide…with some GIVEAWAYS TOO!!  Now these items will not really be accurate for a true CNY gift but just for fun.  So watch for the above button and come back every day to see what I have put up…some fun stuff to be had!!

Wow…I feel like a duh-mee! I guess too many years since sociology, history, AND geography and I know nothing about the Chinese New Year. Sad. (Last 29 years spent raising 6 kids so my mind is more mush than not!)
So, Happy CHinese New Year to your Family AND hope the surgery went well.
