Good Things Come to Those Who Wait ~ Veggie Tales DVD Review
During the eight long years we waited to become parents for the first time, it was an emotional rollercoaster and while it was not easy to wait, I did my very best to remember that God always keeps His promises, even if you have to wait longer than you would like
to see them fulfilled. Much to my delight, the latest episode of Veggie Tales: Abe & the Amazing Promise, is essentially about that very thing.
In this new installment, Bob the Tomato interviews Abraham and Sarah about how they waited years and years (you know they loved that) for the child promised to them by God.
Junior Asparagus joins in as the film crew records the interview, but his patience is quickly tested by an overzealous nurse, spitting camels, and other mishaps. As Bob presses on with the interview, Junior must learn the value of waiting, hence the point of the story.
Synopsis:
Bob the Tomato tries to bring the Bible story of Abraham and Sarah and their wait for a promised son to life, but when spitting camels and a film crew of zany French peas get involved, everyone’s patience is tested! Will Bob pull everything together in time to teach a lesson? Whether they’re waiting on a promise from God or cookies from mom, kids will learn that while being patient is never easy, the reward is always worth the wait!
The DVD also features the musical “misadventures” of Blunders in Boo-Boo-Ville where Jacques (Larry the Cucumber) attempts to invent a way to bring back the boo-boo birds and discovers that taking time to do things the right way is the best way with the following bonus features:
- Music and Video: New Silly Song Sing-Along “Sneeze If You Need To”
- Behind the Scenes: How Did We Make A Lesson In Patience? Art Gallery and Commentary
- Video Trivia, Interactive Storybook, Discussion Guide
- Interactive Game, How to Draw Abraham and a Boo-Boo Bird
When I left for BlissDom, I was leaving behind a really sick child, a temperamental 7 year old, a two-year old and dutiful husband who would do his level best to keep them all entertained. I gave them Veggie Tales: Abe & the Amazing Promise in hopes that it would entertain them for a while. While this isn’t one of their most clever episodes, I am happy to report that it did manage to keep the under 8 crowd appropriately entertained.
One of the two things I love best about all of the Veggie Tales productions is the catchy little tunes they include in each of their shows and this one was no different. That and the fact that they keep kids entertained while teaching them valuable biblical lessons so go ahead and plan on adding Abe & The Amazing Promise to your dvd library.
Veggie Tales: Abe & the Amazing Promise was just released this past week and it is now available at Amazon.com and local DVD merchants near you.
