CRAFTS: Pumpkins add Spice

31 October 2008
ubr nav r img op ar075 CRAFTS: Pumpkins add SpiceWhen my favorite season Fall rolls around, there is something else that often rolls around on peoples porches, tables and mantles – Pumpkins! And since they can be used from the beginning of September until the end of November, they are an imaginative soul’s dream since they can be used in Carving, Crafting and Creating the look you want. Today’s challenge? Take a peek at the ideas below and see how many of them you have seen before!

Carving

Carving pumpkins is often a traditional October activity but these days, a crafty soul can take it to the next level, sometimes with safer tools and less mess!

A – Mum’s are always in season in the Fall. You can quickly carve your pumpkin and set the Mum plant down inside for a colorful and welcoming statement!
B – This is not your Mama’s carved pumpkin! Family Fun has patterns galore!
C - Bring out your wild side with a natural pumpkin! Go on a Nature walk to see what you can find then dress him to the Nines!
D – Who would have thought decoupage would be used for pumpkins? But it’s so fun and easy that even your two-year old can do it!
E – Some days are Batty-er than others, right? These adorable critters make a fun decor item as well as place card holders, party invitations and more!

Crafting

These Mini Felt Pumpkins have a myriad of uses, from table decor, to teacher gifts to well, you name it and they are so easy. I recently learned how to felt and it is an excellent way to remove some unneeded stress and aggression!

Of course, if it is Jack-o-Lanterns you want, have I got a couple of ideas for you!

The lovely folks over at Martha Stewart came up with some adorable Jar-O-Lanterns. You can go a little green by reusing jars while crafting a fun, fill-able Jack-o-Lantern to show or give.

And you can brighten the night or the day when you make pumpkin lanterns or luminaries with glass jars and fabric.

How about a Literary Pumpkin? By folding the pages down and attaching the covers together, you can have a seasonal novelty that will fit in even in the most educational of locations.bib CRAFTS: Pumpkins add Spice

Creating

Is this not the cutest Halloween bib? And the pattern is free too! Perfect for that Baby’s 1st Halloween picture.

Snip, snip, sew, sew, and tie, tie then viola! You have a country chic cloth pumpkin. Colleen from MommyDaze will talk you through it , start to finish.

And last but far from least, if you just don’w want to go with the standard orange pumpkin look, why not jazz it up with a little Krylon paint like they did above and over at Shell in Your Pocket and before you know it, you might start a new trend!

Whatever you decide, one thing is sure: Pumpkins add spice and pizazz to just about everything! So tell me now, just how many of these ideas had you seen or done before? You never know who might be keeping score!
