Bear Portraits (Little, Brown & Co/ Nov 2009) is a beautiful ‘coffee table’ book full of photographs by Jill Greenberg that you have to see to believe.  The cute guy on the front cover is rather deceiving compared to what you can find inside.

Well, Happy Chinese New Year!!

Remember Chinese New Year is the celebration of a new lunar year. It is a fifteen day holiday that starts on the evening of the second new moon after the winter solstice. This is sometime in January or February each year. This holiday ends with the Lantern Festival on the 15th day.

In China, this holiday is also called Spring Festival since it marks the change in the weather from bitter cold to the coming of warmer weather.  Kinda the Chinese version of Punxatawny Phil.
