Baby Lists – What I wouldn’t have given for a good copy! Review & Giveaway(Ended)
If you recall, P1 is our daughter that we adopted domestically at birth. We learned that her birthmom had selected us to be her family about two months before she was due to be born. We were beside ourselves with excitement but had to do the best we could to keep it all under wraps until it was a done deal, so to speak, just in case the adoption did not go through. So during those two months, we knew we were hopefully adopting a newborn but that was about all. We did not know her sex, her location, her health status or her size until she was born.
As she was to be our first child, we knew very little about infants and what exactly to expect or have on hand. Of course, I did all of the reading and studying that I could but that only did so much, you know? And packing to pick her up, over 8 hours away was well, interesting to say the least. (Honest, there is not a chapter in any book I have found about ‘What to Pack When You Are on Your Way to the Hospital to Pick up a Newborn you Have Just Adopted.:)
Needless to say, when the nurse at the hospital told me to go ahead and change her while she and my hubby finished up some paperwork, I was a wee bit lost. Did I start at her feet or her hands to put her new outfit on her? Should I give her the pacifier right away or wait until she started fussing? When I strapped her in her carseat, should she go head-first or feet-first? And let me tell you, this was only the beginning of the questions.
That night in our motel room, what I would not have given for a good copy of Elaine Farber’s Baby Lists: What to Do and What to Get to Prepare for Baby! I have just had the chance to review it now and I have to tell you honestly that I would have really benefited from a copy of this 7+years ago. I can break it down to the following -
Appealing - It is incredibly thorough with clear headers and titles making it easy to search for and find exactly what you are looking for. It also makes an interesting read, should you want to read it from cover to cover.
Baby-ready – To keep the book real and down-to-earth, Ms. Farber has introduced occasional relevant comments from moms who have been in your shoes. Some of the best chapters were those that covered the necessities vs. the niceties and what to include in the medicine chest since that is always changing.
Current -One of the things I love best about Baby Lists is that it is written for today’s cyber-knowledgable moms. If the manufacturer has a website, it is listed, making it super easy to connect to.
If you or any mom-to-be you know are trying to prepare to bring a baby into your home, a copy of Baby Lists: What to Do and What to Get to Prepare for Baby might be just what you need. It retails for about $14.95 and you can pick up a copy at Amazon.com, Target.com, , Barnes and Noble.com, and many other local and online retailers.
Of course, you could also win a copy, right here!
